In the summer of 1998, Brenda Bell, a newcomer to the small West Texas town of Fort Davis, recognized the pressing need for a food distribution program in the community. In 2003, the Food Pantry achieved a significant milestone, moving into a new building, fully paid for by local donations and grants. As the years unfolded, the Food Pantry continued to evolve, adapting to needs and external challenges. From humble beginnings, the Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County has grown into a vital community resource, embodying the spirit of neighbors feeding neighbors and fostering resilience in the face of challenges. The history of the Food Pantry is a testament to the power of community, compassion, and dedicated leadership in the pursuit of hunger-free Jeff Davis County.
