How Donations Are Used

Your donation will be used to alleviate hunger in Jeff Davis County. Neighbors feeding neighbors!

Our Programs

  • Twice monthly distributions to all Food Pantry Clients. Distribution centers in Fort Davis and Valentine
  • PACK-A-LUNCH supplies school lunch ingredients such as whole wheat sandwich bread, lunchmeat, cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, jelly, oranges, bananas, applesauce, and bagged snacks to Food Pantry clients with pre-K through grade 12 children. We provide this service for 99 children in Jeff Davis County. Cost is $25/mo per child. 
  • The Emergency Assistance Food Program (TEFAP) provides emergency food assistance to JDC residents at or below 185% of federal poverty guidelines OR those who are experiencing a temporary crisis such as loss of employment, unexpected medical treatment, etc. 
  • Senior Box Program helps vulnerable seniors (60+) who might otherwise have to choose between food and basic needs. Income guidelines are based on at or below 130% of federal poverty guidelines. Senior boxes are distributed once a month. 
  • NEW! Kids Pantry at Jeff Davis County Library. Kids Pantry is our third and newest distribution center. Kids Pantry shares our main mission to alleviate hunger in JDC but operates on a different model. Any child who is JDC resident may use the Kids Pantry whether or not their parents qualify for or are currently receiving assistance through the Food Pantry. No personal or income information is collected nor are any questions asked of the child. Kids pantry is stocked with lunch, snack, and family-friendly foods and is open during regular library hours, Mon-Fri 10-6 and Sat 10-2.
