Winners Galore at Food Pantry Booth:
Our community’s talented bakers submitted 19 entries into the Food Pantry’s Annual Pie Contest. Pie lovers eagerly waited in line on Saturday to buy a slice of their favorite pie made by their favorite baker. As usual, there were many amazing flavors for people to enjoy. This year we celebrated our bakers with 12 prizes: First place – Pineapple Chess by Caroline Jayes (Carla Kennedy’s granddaughter), Second Place – Vegan Jeff Davis by Evelyn Glaspie, Third Place – Rhubarb by Evelyn Glaspie, Honorable Mention – Granola Crunch by Hannah Jayes (Carla Kennedy’s granddaughter), Most-Like-Grandma’s – Apple by Nataly Rostopchin, Fruitiest – Blueberry by Bette Thomas, Most Interesting – Salted Caramel Apple by Pam Breithaupt, Best Crust – Granny Smith Apple by Linda Hedges, Applicious – Apple by OIga Hamilton, Cutie-pie – Apple Peach by Lily Dyar, Most Local – Fort Davis Plum by Mary Beth Manhart and Sweetie-pie – Kentucky Derby by Gabbi Dyar.
We had many generous business sponsors contribute to our Annual Raffle making it possible to have 31 raffle winners. A beautiful Trek bicycle, with all the extras, was donated to the Food Pantry by Ellen Weinacht. The bicycle was turned into a silent auction item and was won by Anne Adkins. We look forward to seeing Anne pedaling down the road!
