The annual Pie Contest hosted by the Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County is becoming a well-loved and
greatly-anticipated event, evident by the 18 beautiful pie entries we received. Hungry pie lovers stood in line at the Food Pantry’s booth anxiously waiting their turn to purchase their favorite pieces of these yummy pies. Our judges said that this year’s pie entries were some of the best yet – even with the stiff competition, the resulting scores were all very close. After all the tasting and judging was completed, the judge’s efforts yielded the following winning pies: Bette Thomas – First Place with her famous Blueberry Pie; Pam Breithaupt – Second Place with her original Rustic Lime Pie; Maria Gloria
The generosity of people both making pies and buying pies is always amazing, making this fundraisernot just fun – but successful too. However, on Saturday evening, a micro-burst of wind passed through downtown Fort Davis and damaged significant property in its path. Sadly,
the Food Pantry’s tents were destroyed and now they need to be replaced.
